Summary/Overview:

The World Bank Participation Source Book provides an interesting insight into participation within the context of the World Bank’s activities. Much of the content is useful to practitioners who are working elsewhere, particularly in the International Development sector.

The Sourcebook is primarily intended for readers who have already decided to use participatory approaches in their professional work.

The document is available online and is split up into well-defined and clearly written sections which cover a wide range of information including:

  • Case studies
  • Enabling the poor to participate effectively
  • Summaries of methods and tools for participation

Despite being somewhat out of date, the Sourcebook is succinct and accessible, providing insight into participatory practices in an international context.
