This document sets out clear advice for Local Authority practitioners on how to encourage more cohesive communities through various interventions and support. The document covers the application of community cohesion in key policy areas, and provides pointers for implementation as well as inspirational case studies.

The guide is comprehensive without being too detailed, and provides plenty of references to other useful sources of information and to contacts within Local Authorities where good practice is being established.

The guide covers an impressive range of situations, including sections on engaging with traveller communities and asylum seekers, working in partnership with the police and fire services and engaging with older people.
