Summary/Overview:

Operation Black Vote (OBV) is an initiative which focuses on is the Black democratic deficit in the UK. The organisation carries out activities around political education, participation and representation. OBV aspires to “ a fair, just and inclusive democracy, one that allows our creativity, energy and talent to fulfil its potential and enhance British society.”

OBV runs projects that aim to encourage and inspire the next generation of Black and Minority Ethnic decision makers. Mentoring schemes are well established, and run with the aim of empowering individuals to learn about and to become decision makers. OBV also runs an educational project aimed at 11-16 year olds called ‘Understanding Power’.
