Summary/Overview:
The BBC Action Network provides an online space for people to engage with each other and to campaign on local issues that matter to them. The site has an emphasis on local communities, and the range of subjects discussed is broad. There are a lot of useful links to voluntary and charitable organisations on the site. This is an innovative idea, but needs more time and users to reach its full potential - many campaigns have been set up, but far fewer have a significant number of people engaged online.
Because much of the site content is user-created, the notice board information is by its very nature, strongly biased and very specific. Content provided by the BBC itself is clear and impartial- and guides to campaigning are clear and practical and are a great resource.
There is an excellent infrastructure in place, showing lots of potential for future development.
